How long is my Certificate of Eligibility valid for?
Did you know that the Certificate of Eligibility to enter Japan has a validity period?
Usually, it is “3 months”.
“I am unable to enter Japan because of the COVID-related entry restrictions, and my Certificate of Eligibility is about to expire… what should I do? “

Here’s what to do!
The Immigration and Naturalization Service (Immigration and Naturalization Service) has announced a new policy regarding the expiration date of a Certificate of Eligibility.
The expiration date of the Certificate of Eligibility created on or after October 1, 2019 will be regarded as the following period.
*This will apply to all visa types in all countries and regions.
Date of creation: October 1, 2019 – December 31, 2019
→Valid until April 30, 2021 (same as the previous treatment)
Creation date: January 1, 2020 – January 30, 2020
→Valid until July 31, 2021
Creation date: January 31, 2021 to present
→”Valid for 6 months” from the date of creation
For those whose period of validity has expired, please note that you will need to prepare a new application form and statement of reasons.
